Just face it. Your blog sucks and you know it. If any of these reasons below reflect you and your blog, then you might as well stop blogging. Oh, and if you do suck at blogging because of any of the reasons below, well, do something about it!
Your Blog Sucks When…
- You have more ads, banners, and/or widgets than you have words that you have written.
- Your blog’s color scheme hurts the eyes. Literally.
- Your last post was written 3 weeks ago.
- Your blog only has one reader everyday: yourself.
- Your blog does not offer RSS or email subscriptions.
- You blog about making money online, but you have never made a cent.
- You waste hours putting random ads everywhere instead of writing content.
- Your content is poorly written with bad grammar and spelling.
- Your blog has no visuals that appeals to the readers.
- Your blog is not usable at all.
- Your blog does not link out to any other.
- Your blog and its content is not search engine optimized.
- Your blog has no information about how to contact you (or who you even are).
- You do not have a statistic/analysis meter.
- You don’t network with other bloggers.
- Your blog is not using permalinks.
- Your blog has no focal point whatsoever.
- Your blog’s home page has no comments in any of the posts.
- You don’t do anything to promote you and your blog.
- You put no effort into blogging.

#22 - Your blog sucks when you post a single sentence consisting of 5 words that are used to link to someone else’s blog without providing any valuable content yourself.
I hate people that do this and then bitch about how they never have any visitors or comments ….

I’ll have to disagree a little bit with reason #3. If you’ve positioned a niche blog well in search results you can not post for a month or more and still bring in considerable traffic. For example, I have a niche blog that brings in 4 times as much traffic as I get on OpTempo and the last article on it posted in November.
Something that would be the death of a social blog won’t even scratch a niche blog and vice versa.

Very creative, of course. It’s a nice list of standards us serious bloggers should work to prevent. I know some people who claim to be serious bloggers but haven’t written a post in months. But then again, I also know environmentalists who write 50 page pamphlets on saving the trees.

For me, its when bloggers get comfortable and shift their content from useful information to wordy fluff pieces. There are a lot of blogs I use to read that provided great information, but slowly transformed into blogs that provide no quality content.

Blogging, as far as i know, is SO out. It was popular. WAS. But obviously that was a hundred years ago. Blogging now, is so out of trend, and yet there are still people out there who are like, crazy over blogging, (and well, Friendster, Myspace, facebook) and they spend like entire life admiring their so called fantastic blogs. Come on. The internet has a whole damned lot of other, better stuff for you to do, not just be obsessed with yourself and your damned life, writing about frivolous things that happens in your life, and make your life sound so interesting and hope that everyone around you is interested in what happens with your damned life. And then start giggling to yourself when people start spamming happy faces all over your tag board. It’s so childish, and they NEVER realize it. It seems like they’re constantly building up a fake image of themselves, and write only fake sounding happy things on the blog. It’s not as if your whole life is about discussing movies and idols and lame jokes, and honestly, i’d rather read a real diary that you write and read yourself, than a whole lot of fairy tales you put on the internet for the whole world to see.

Agreed, it’s annoying to see blogs cluttered with ads and it’s evident the the author just started the site in order to generate revenue.
I hardly use advertising on my blog anymore, especially adsense.
I have one adsense block on every post and no where else and it’s blended in so that it doesn’t look ugly.
Although, I don’t earn hundreds of dollars a day from it, a few dollars extra can always help.
