Too Many Articles a Day?

When you’re doing your posting a day, you have to stop and think about how many posts you’re making. Usually, people complain about not being able to post enough, but sometimes people get carried away, and begin posting excessive amounts of articles a day.

A good amount to post is a few less than your homepage can handle. For example, if your blogging platform is set to show 10 posts, try to make about 5-7 posts that day. This way, if any of your readers who aren’t subscribed to your RSS feed decide to visit your site, they won’t be entirely lost. Websites with higher page ranks are more demanding, and more posts are necessary. In this scenario, you’ll want to edit the maximum number of posts your homepage displays up to around 15. Don’t try to go crazy and start displaying up to 30 stories on the homepage; this will distract your readers and the significantly higher load times will turn them away.

The amount of posts you make is entirely dependent on what kind of blog you have. If it is entirely personal, it’s okay to not post for a day and get back to it late. However, if it’s a competitive blog based in a booming industry, you’ll want to keep it updated as much as humanly possible. Say for example you post something early in the morning. You learn later that night that something developed on that story. Don’t make a separate post updating the story, but instead revise your older post. Quality over quantity is the goal for any blog.

Take your time and make your posts count, and don’t try to overdo it.
