4 Simple Tips For Writing Great Content the Right Way

Blog writing tipsI’ve said this many times before and I’ll say it again. It’s almost impossible to have a successful blog without setting the right priorities, especially when it comes to writing great content to start off a new blog. Although it is sometimes very easy to write any type of content no matter what topic you’re talking about, there are still things to keep in mind. If you think about it, do you actually think that your readers are reading evey single word of every single post that you write?

To understand what I am talking about in terms of writing content the right way, let’s first take a look at your blog. Are your posts easy to read? Can your readers scan it and know what you are talking about without having to read everything word for word? If you plan to be a successful blogger, writing content (great content) is the first and most important step.

Below are four simple tips for writing great content. If you apply these things when you write your articles, you can expect your readers to give positive feedback and comments. It also guarantees you an increase in blog traffic because your readers would want to come back for more.

Write Magnetic Article Titles

Creating a catchy title is the first step to writing a good article. The titles of your articles should easily tell your readers what they are going to be reading about. People will know right away what the rest of the article will be like and it will give them a good reason to read it.

Let’s look at a simple scenario. Say there were two magazine articles lying in front of you. They were both the same exact article (but you didn’t know it), and the only difference between them were the name of the titles: How I Became Popular and How a Stupid Stunt Made Me a Star. Which would you have picked up to read? Clearly, the second one is catchier, which would have lead you to pick it up (well, at least I  know I would have).

Make Scannable Content

This is pretty self-explanatory. Like I said earlier, most of your readers don’t really read 100% of what you write. That’s why you have to make it scannable. To do this, you can apply bold format to important phrases and keywords; post an image or two somewhere on your article; and make sure that you get your point out as early as possible.

Write Multiple Paragraphs

This actually goes with the point I just talked about. Basically, if you write a very long article and put it all in one paragraph, you’re repelling your readers away from reading it. Who would want to read a gigantic piece of writing? It might make it look like a long article, but it will actually discourage them on reading it.

Don’t Write Lengthy Articles

Not only do long paragraphs keep readers away, but a lengthy article as a whole can also do the same. If it’s not necessary, don’t make your articles too long. Keep it as short as possible depending on what you are writing. Again, this also repels your readers.

Conclusion

After applying these tips, there is no doubt that your readers will love the articles that you write. Not only does writing great content bring more loyal readers, but also makes your time writing them worthwhile. As long as you provide what people came to your blog to see, you are doing your part as a blogger.

I try to keep my posts short and concise. Lengthy posts will make the reader jump to the next blog in his/her feed reader.

I especially like “keep it scannable”. It drives me crazy when bloggers write posts that are impossible to scan by not using titles or breaking up their writing into paragraphs. Prime example: Shoemoney.

I kind of disagree with your last point, about post length. I think the required post length relies completely on the type of reader. In some niches such as MMO, you are right, readers will only scan, but in some such as advanced SEO people are much more willing to read deep into longer posts.
