There’s Gold In Them There Hills
If your trying to make money from the internet and your looking for new opportunities, buying established old sites could be a good idea. In 2004 I was lucky enough to find and buy MobileWhack.com for around $8000 dollars, today it is one of the leading sites in its field and making more money than I could ever dream of. But its not easy finding sites like this and owners willing to sell them.
So ok I’m going to tell you what I was looking for in a site and what you should look for when buying a Website on the Cheap.
1) I was looking for a site that already had a well established presence on the net in search engines and on other sites, with goodbacklinks. TICK.
2) I was looking for a site that was listed in most search engine directories, TICK again MobileWhack was listed in all the top directories DMOZ, Google, Yahoo, MSN, AlltheWeb, Ask.com and more.
3) I was looking for a site which the current owner wasn’t really updating anymore, this way they might be more willing to sell the site than if they were constantly updating BIGGEST TICK OF ALL, I just got lucky with Mobilewhack here.
4) I was looking for a site which I could definitely make money from TICK AGAIN, Mobilewhack.com was closely related to cell phones, it was actually a mobile phone hacking Website and my plan was to make into a cell phone and mobile electronics new product announcement and news site. I new I could make more money if I turned the site into something like this than just leaving it as a cell phone hacking site.
So here are some of my tips for you to look for when buying a established Website on the Cheap.

Awesome job on the success of MobileWhack
These four tips are really good, regardless of what you plan to do with the site, be it flipping, transforming or just building more traffic. The only problem is, the better the site is, the more it costs, so sometimes it's best to build from scratch.

Hi Paul,
I checked out MobileWhack.com, nicely done. How many changes and labor hours did you put into it after buying it?
I've seen a lot of info on what's called "site flipping". Obviously, you have a checklist of things to look for when purchasing an established site. Is there a time frame or guideline that you use to resell a site?

I am always looking at flippa for sites to buy. I have bought a few with a lot of backlinks. I need to take in consideration the high directories they are in too. I have made money on everyone but not as much you as you are making with the $8000 site you bought! Nice work!
