Atomico Ventures, a new European investment company, has announced that they’ve raised a massive $165 million to invest in new companies. Atomico Ventures is founded by Skype founders Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis, so they’ve certainly got some experience to work with. They plan on investing in early stage European startups to begin with.

Sonos, makers of home theater solutions (and some good ones, too), has announced that they’ve raised $25 million in Venture Capital from Index Ventures Partners, bringing the total funding Sonos has got to $65 million.
The company makes home theater and music solutions, and have recently launched an iPhone application where users can control their home theaters from their phones.

The rather unknown private student lending startup Fynanz has announced that the company has secured a $6.5 million in Series A funding, led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
The Series A funding brings the total funding to $8 million for Fynanz, which was started in 2008 as a peer-to-peer lending model targeting students. Fynanz’ rates are on average 0.60% to 1.0% lower than similar bank rates.
