The Six Great Blog Functions Part Four–News

News. Fast, hard-hitting, minimal commentary.
If you’re setting up your blog to present information in rapid fashion without much in the way of commentary, then news is your blog genre of choice.
You can already see how I’m approximating a news blog post right here by using lots of short, punchy paragraphs with basically just information in a minimal framework of commentary, and mostly for the sake of elaboration.
News blogs generally aren’t found in isolation–they come with several caveats to keep them from being too dry or seen as simply regurgitating press releases or being boring old link lists.
If you plan to address a population with a mastery of your topic of study, basically anyone you’d target an informational blog to, a heavy dose of news is likely to prove a valuable resource to these people. And if you can be valuable, then you’ll be well read.
