How To Properly Tackle Unexpected Absences

Sometimes blogging gets to the point where you feel like you’re doing the same thing, over and over and over and over and over again. Of course, it’s not just exhaustion that can sneak up on you–so can illness or family trouble. So if you need a break, here are some ways you can accomplish that.
1. Arrange a guest blogger. Remember when we were talking about guest blogging for other people? Make that opportunity available to others by offering up a slot.
2. Pre-blog. Write tomorrow’s blogs today to buy you a little extra down time.
3. Blog on the road. If you’re going somewhere, why not bring your laptop and make a working vacation out of it? Even better, if you blog about what you’re doing, you can take tax writeoffs like no tomorrow–consult your licensed tax preparer for details.
4. Just go. Okay, this may be the worst possible strategy, but if you’re churning out the material like no tomorrow, sometimes you just need a break. Announce your intentions clearly and in advance as much as possible, so everyone knows what to expect. You’ll be surprised how accommodating your readership can be when you give them plenty of notice. Things happen. You know that, and so do they.
Take one of these points and you’ll be reading to take a well-earned blog rest.
