Stick To A Blogging Schedule

There are a lot of people out there who, when it comes to blogging, think that the life of a blogger seems pretty darned ideal. They don’t punch a clock, they don’t have to deal with the jerk in the other cubicle all day, their boss is either themselves or in some remote (relative to them) location and is only seen by email or an occasional phone call. You’re left to do your job in relative peace. There’s no one to hassle you if you decide to blow off the morning and go to the park and feed the ducks or take your kid to a soccer game.
But what these folks don’t realize is how downright difficult it can be to find new things to write about and then write about them, every day, day in and day out. There’s no paid vacation as a blogger. There are no paid holidays. I was churning out a day’s work on both Labor Day AND Memorial Day. You are paid for the material you create, for the posts you make, for the ad traffic you drive.
If you don’t blog, you don’t eat.
This is why sticking to as regular a schedule as you can create is so very important. The more accustomed your readers become to finding your work every day, on a certain day, the more often they’ll come back. Whether you work daily, twice daily or every other day, being their for your readers when they expect you goes a long way toward establishing your–once again–CREDIBILITY.
Remember, your readers are counting on you for the latest news and the snappiest commentary. If you can’t provide it, they’ll go where they can get it. Make sure it’s with you.
