Attention Getting Blogging: As Long As It’s New To You

I once heard, without attribution, this story in which Charlie Manson asked for a television in his jail cell so he could, obviously, watch TV.  The irony was that he asked for this television in the midst of the summer rerun season, and everyone was starting to figure, like they did back in those days, it’s summer.  Who’d want to watch TV in the height of summer rerun season?  To which, when asked that, Charlie replied:

“Well, if I haven’t seen it yet, then it’s new to me!”

You might wonder why I led off with an anecdote about a charismatic lunatic, but you know I don’t just tell stories for fun.  At least, not here.  This is from a comment from reader Indiasafaries who left this comment on “Boost Traffic by Sharing Discoveries“:

This is not so easy to discover or produce any things universal or unique which is not preexist in the world.

And my answer to that is the same thing Charlie said of his summertime TV.  If they haven’t seen it, Indiasafaries, it’s new to them.  You don’t have to find something universal or unique.  You just have to find something your readers haven’t seen before.

That’s easier than you might think.

How To Gain New Readers With One Simple Marketing Strategy

Everyone wants to gain new readers for their blog. Readers and subscribers are the backbone of a successful blog, and without them, a blog simply just isn’t a blog.

These readers I am talking about are also bloggers that own their own blog. The reason we want to gain new readers that are also bloggers is simple: they have a higher chance of subscribing to your blog than anybody else who comes to your site from let’s say… search engines.

So let me give you my secret on how I gain multiple new readers everyday…

Quick Links - October 11, 2008

In the past few days, I’ve discovered a few great new blogs that are worth mentioning. This issue of Quick Links features 5 articles from 5 blogs that I have subscribed to because of their great content. Two weeks ago, I never even heard of them (but that’s just me). Now they’re in my RSS feed. Great job guys and keep up the good work!

I’d also like to give a shout out to the top commentators to this point. We’re only 11 days through the month of October and I’m already seeing comment numbers in the double-digits from a few people. Keep it up guys (and gals)!

Create a New SlyVisions Slogan, Win An Easy $10

Here’s a new chance for you guys (and gals) to win some easy cash!

First of all, what you need to know is that I am finally going to get off the “make money online” bandwagon. It doesn’t mean I won’t share tips anymore on making money online, but what I am looking to do is accomplish 3 things: to be more unique compared to other blogs, not become a MMO blog, and brand my domain with the new slogan.

By being more unique, I am going off on a different direction in terms of what this blog is all about. That means that I won’t be like any other 23453190752974 blogs out there that is all about making money online. Instead, I’ll be the blog I have always been. One that talks about internet marketing, blogging, affiliate marketing, entrepreneurship, and yes, even making money online. I’ll still be sharing tips and all that about making money online, but this blog will not titled anymore as an MMO blog.

So that’s why I’m going to need your help. Actually, I can do this myself, but it would be more fun if you guys can join in on it. What I need is a new slogan. As you can see, it is currently…

Where Vision To Make Money Becomes Reality

With the new slogan that you will be creating, try to use 2-3 of these words below. If you have something nice that doesn’t use any of these words, submit it anyway!

  • internet
  • entrepreneur
  • freelancer
  • journey
  • vision(s)
  • online
  • tips

Remember, just be creative! Even if the slogan you create doesn’t include 2-3 words above, (but I prefer you have the word “vision” in it somewhere) if I like it, I’ll take it. Also, the less words the better. So go ahead and post your slogan submission below for your chance to win an easy $7 $10. The submitter that gets his or her slogan put up on the site after the deadline will be the winner of the $7 $10. You have until 11:59 PM EST on Saturday, August 30, 2008 11:59 PM EST on Monday, September 1, 2008 before I stop accepting any more submissions. Have fun!

Happy 1st Birthday, SlyVisions dot Com!

One year ago, Slyvisions dot Com was born!

My first year of being in the internet marketing business has been quite a ride. I can still remember the time when I googled “make money online”, which led me to ProBlogger, which then led me to make this site. Actually, the first content of this site was born in April of last year. But it wasn’t until June 2 of 2007 that I bought my own web hosting and the domain from Dreamhost, when the site was officially born.

Through this blog, I have reached my goal of making over thousands of dollars online. Slyvisions dot Com provided me with the skills that I needed to reach my success. It also allowed me to prepare for what’s to come in the near future. But it all couldn’t have been possible without you, my readers. So I thank everyone who has been part of my first year in this journey.

But don’t get me wrong. I still have a long way to go.

Most Popular Posts

Anyway, I want to present to you the most popular posts of my first 365 days. They are not put in any particular order. Every post you see here are what I feel has made Slyvisions dot Com what it is right now. If you think I missed something, let me know!

There are a few more posts I know were popular in terms of traffic, but the ones above are the ones that I think I spent 300% effort writing, and in turn, got plenty of comments from readers everywhere. Anyway, to finish this post, I would like to thank you again for being a Slyvisions dot Com reader. Without you, I don’t think I would have written this post in the first place.

Time To Freshen Up For 2008

Now that it’s 2008, it’s time to freshen up. I’ve got a few things on my head that I want to implement on this site that will make it a better blog as well as a community. I will talk about it more in the coming days, but one thing I’m going to do for sure is to have other contributors/writers for this blog. Oh, and I am also looking for a new design for this blog. Yes, I know it’s probably my 3rd or 4th time changing the look of the site, but it’s only going to be my 1st since moving to WordPress.
