What’s In It For Me?

As a blogger and a marketer this is perhaps the most common question that comes to mind when considering partnerships. This is true whether I am the one seeking a partnership or the one being approached. The funny thing is that it is the one question that seems to be at the bottom of the list if it appears at all in the information provided to bloggers.
I know I have been guilty of this, getting so caught up in the idea that I have and being so convinced of how amazing the idea is that I can’t wait to get others involved I forget that I need to look at it from their perspective. How will being involved with my idea help them, what are they going to have to contribute and what is the pay off for them.
At the same time, if I am approached by an organization, another blogger etc. the first thing I ask myself is “why should I do this?”. So the next time you are pitching to a blogger or thinking of reaching out to a company for sponsorship, make sure you answer this question for them early in your pitch.
