I’m Not The Only One Advocating Flame Wars

I’m out there every day for you folks, trying to find new and interesting stuff to help you punch up your blogs and help out your bottom line, but man, this is always a surprise.

Today, I give you validation out of nowhere.

I’ve been consulting a list of blog points on web entrepreneur Seth Godin’s blog, and one of his–number fourteen–was almost exactly the same as one I gave you maybe two weeks ago.  Check this out:

14. Be snarky.  Write nearly libelous things about fellow bloggers, daring them to respond (with links back to you) on THEIR blog.

Okay, I don’t suggest libel, or even NEAR libel, but the idea of combining two of my earlier concepts–comment on other people’s blogs and be snarky–is entirely too exciting an idea not to mention.  Plus, it’s always awesome to see that other people you’ve never heard of think about the same way you do; it’s something like validation of your thought process.  Naturally, you want a few new and interesting ideas that no one else has had, but when others in the field occasionally think like you do, it’s a good sign that an idea’s got some heart.

So if you’re thinking about starting that minor flame war on your blog, folks, then be sure to invite someone else along for the ride!

Dear Readers: Stop Lurking and Start Commenting!

I just want to get something out real quick to all the blog readers out there (and even if you are a blogger). First of all, everyone knows what lurkers are right? Everyone is a lurker, that’s for sure. If you really don’t know what a lurker is, it’s basically someone who reads discussions in places like blogs and forums but never really participate by leaving their own comments. And the thing is, I don’t like lurkers lurking around here on Slyvisions dot Com and other blogs (nah, I still like you). I get hundreds of visitors, and most are bloggers, here on this site but never get any comments. But seriously, stop lurking! Here are a few reasons why you can stop lurking and start commenting here on Slyvisions dot Com and any other blog.

  1. Every comment you make counts as a backlink. Because this site has no nofollow, you get a backlink for every comment you make. That means that if you make 10, 20, or 30+ comments from many different posts, you just got yourself 10, 20, or 30+ backlinks to your site that helps with increasing your Technorati ranking as well as for PageRank juice.
  2. The “CommentLuv” system shows your latest blog post for each comment you make. I have just recently added this plugin a few hours ago and what it does is basically show your latest blog post from your blog whenever you make a comment. It’s seriously one of the easiest and effective ways to promote your post. Curious to see what it looks like? Try it!
  3. Be the Top Commenter for the month, win prizes. This is actually new that I have just started today. Every month, I am going to be giving away different types of prizes. This month’s “Comment King” has the chance to win 400 Entrecard credits. You can easily track who’s leading by looking at the Top Commenters on the sidebar. Get your name on top of that list at the end of each month to win many kinds of prizes (including $$$).
  4. Commenting Simply Gets You Noticed. So let’s just say you visit my almost every day. But how am I suppose to know that? Even just one comment can get you noticed. Who knows, I might enjoy your blog enough that I would mention it in later posts.

Those reasons not enough to get you to comment? Well, tell us why by leaving a comment !
