You Just Might Miss Your Big Tomorrow

Patience.

It’s a virtue.  And it’s one often taken for granted in blogging circles.  Look, I’ll be honest with you up front here.  You know I always am, but I’ll make it double clear this time.  This is really obvious advice but it’s worth mentioning just for those folks who may be having a tough day today.

Blogging isn’t the easy venture a lot of people think it is.  It takes lots of time and effort to make a successful blog, and it’s a daily fistfight to do so.  So what we all need, especially when things aren’t looking so good, is patience.

It’s easy to say, after three months or six months or even a year, that blogging isn’t supposed to work for you.  In fact, you’re likely to hear yourself say that.  I mean, come on. Most blogs FAIL within the first year.  How can you fight odds like that?  You CAN’T, really.  For every ten people who start a blog today, only one of them will still be blogging in a year.  Blogging, on the surface, can look like a whole lot of work for no return at all.  Does anyone even CARE?  Are you just typing at an empty room?

It’s times like those that require you to be the most patient.  The biggest problem is, no matter how bad today looks, tomorrow might be the day when something BIG finally happens.  And if you quit, you’ll miss it.

Do you want to miss your big tomorrow?  If you don’t–and I’m sure you don’t–then hang in there.  If nothing else, it’ll make a great story for the dust jacket of your book.
