Stop Repeating Yourself

You ever watch TV in the summertime?  It’s all the same old crap you watched all fall, winter and into spring.

It gets downright dull to watch the same things over and over again, and that’s a key point for you to take away as a blogger, too–are you repeating yourself?

Novelty, folks, is one of the greatest tools in a blogger’s arsenal.  Sure, you might talk about the same basic concepts over and over–that’s not repetition, that’s a theme.  You talk about movies. You talk about scary movies.  You talk about restaurants, things like that.  But what you must NOT do at all costs is talk about the same stuff over and over.

If you find you’re blogging a lot about Twilight, it may be a good time to back off a bit.  If you find yourself talking about ways to write great blog posts, switch it up with some posts about traffic.  You’ll need lots of sources of information (see, there we are back to switching up your sources again!), but the more variety you can give your readership, the better off you’ll be.

Oh, sure, you might accidentally repeat yourself–especially if you write a LOT of posts–but the fewer times you can do this in a day, the better it is for you and for all concerned.
