While watching TV today, something occurred to me: if companies are paying millions of dollars to expose their products in commercials, then that must mean they’re making lots of money in return. That’s when this simple idea popped up in my head. What if you can do that with your blog or any type of website? I know that it already is possible and (some) bloggers already do it, but its effect is something that they haven’t really experienced.
This trick can really make you a famous blogger in no time. But there’s a catch: you will need some money to get started. This is something for bloggers and other webmasters with money that they are willing to invest. So how does it work? Simple: purchase blog reviews from top-bloggers…
The first thing you’ll need to do is set up a budget. But it all depends on the type of advertising you want. But for the purpose of this “guide”, what I’d advice you to do is to purchase blog reviews. A review from a blog can range from $20-$200 and some, like John Chow, asks for $400. Your budget should rely on how much exposure you want to get. Do you want to purchase just 1 review from the best blog out there? Or do you want to spread the investment around on other B-List bloggers?
Next thing in our checklist is to check out the top blogs in the blogosphere. Technorati’s Top 100 is good, but don’t expect to get approved by those blogs if you have a low budget. Instead, go ahead and check out the top blogs from 45n5’s Top 100 Make Money Online Blogs. Now look at the blogs in the list and check out their Advertising page if they have any. If not, contact the bloggers about their rates. Bloggers like John Chow, for example, charge $400. But for most of us, that’s too much for one blog. A smarter thing to do is to purchase multiple reviews from other bloggers that are also reputable for their high-quality reviews. By doing this, you are extending your exposure from many different readers that read many different blogs.

Before purchasing the reviews, make sure you ask for small requests. For example, you can ask the blogger to list your top 5 popular posts somewhere in the review. This is critical because it shows the readers a sample of what you write in your blog. With those posts, you are giving them a great first impression by leading them to your best articles. Remember, you are paying money for a review so you might as well make it how you want it. Just make sure not to ask too much.
Finally, purchase those reviews and watch the traffic pour in. With the traffic, you can then convert them to daily readers, “ad-clickers”, or future advertisers for your own blog. After a few weeks (or even days) you should notice that your popularity has increased with all the new blogs linking to you. And of course, you will see that you have made more money from your blog more than ever.
Some of you right now you might be doubting this idea of advertising since there are other “organic” ways to be a successful and popular blogger. I myself haven’t applied this idea since I don’t think I need it. This simple trick is targeted more on those who want to take a shortcut. So if you think this will give you a boost for your blogging success, go for it!

Yes with this trick if we confident enough with our blog contents. The $400 is consider a lot for me.
yup.. it good for blog to buy review..
but i’m afraid if we spent lot of money to buy review and yes traffic will come.. but do they will come again next day.. i’m afraid not.. so maybe by the traffic that we already have and when they really will come again to my blog.. maybe that time i will consider to buy review.. nice post..
Well, buying through Sponsored Reviews and check the “Benefits only” option will be better than just submitting to bloggers like John Chow for a free style review. What if he don’t like your contents?
I know even a bad review on John Chow can get you a spike of traffic but the viral effect might kill your blog in no time as well (traffic lower than normal after the review)…
Unless you just started a site which is business orientated which requires a push for traffic, I really don’t recommend this way of promotion.
P/S: Maybe other bloggers, keep in mind that John Chow is evil.
PPS: I am a avid reader of John as well, no hard feelings so ignore the P/S above.
The tip is nice and definitely effective, but costly for most of the new bloggers.
Sly:
It’s a good way to buy review for your blogs or web sites. Like theplussixty, you need to measure how many new reader will come back or convert to shopper.
The bottom line is that your web sites and blog has something to offer. If you don’t have useful content for your reader, they won’t come back any more.
Funny you wrote about this, as I just got contacted out of the blue today from someone looking to buy a review from me.
It certainly does make sense and would help especially beginners to get a fast start. Just see what it has done for Caroline M. by getting reviewed for free by Yaro, Darren and later on Maki mentioned her too.
A little over 1 month later and she tops 900 sunscribers!
@ Terence - Yes, content is always important when it comes to getting loyal readers. If they like what you do, they’ll come back for more.
@ Monika - There you go. That’s a perfect example of what it’s like to be featured in some way or another and its effects.
This idea might work for someone who already has a lot of content and a good site, but the problem is that the people who are the most tempted to use it are the people who are the least likely to have a site that is worth visiting…the ones who don’t want to take the time to build their site with quality content and hard work. You can spend all the money in the world but if your site isn’t any good the visitors you lure in won’t come back.
@ Jason - I agree. It’s pointless to pay $$$ for advertisements if the visitors don’t like your site anyway. That’s why I pointed out the fact that you should ask small requests when paying for a review. If you don’t even have those 5 Popular Posts that you request, then don’t even ask for a review.
You can get reviewed by me for $10 through the end of the year. After that the price is going up to $20. See my blog reviews page.
Unfortunately most bloggers don’t have a budget to play with (like myself). A good resource would be to find sites that do free reviews…anyone know of any?
Good article and advice for me. I`ll try it on my blogs. I`ll write to you for results.
Wow..quite a very interesting idea to me. maybe I can apply it soon if I have budget.
This is definitely an approach by some bloggers with money…but as said ,one should have good number of quality posts and marketing skills to make the visitors sticky…cheers, indy
Why not do it if you have the budget. Its a quickstart way of becoming known to in the blogoshphere.
I think most fresh bloggers don’t want to put in their hard earned $$$ into this venture in such a rush if they don’t see evidence of value return i.e. in terms of higher and newer exposure to their blogs.
Food for thought - How did John Chow (and so many other Gurus) get traffic and audience to the high level they now enjoy on their blogs?
well the best way to get visitors for your blog is to be active on the blogosphere and leave valuable comments that make others click your link !!
Most important you need quality content to keep them coming back to your site.
@ doctorfox - That’s why you don’t waste money on a newly started blog. Write those great articles first and get those readers before actually advertising in any type of way.
@ QuakeBoy - I agree. Even just simply commenting on other blogs can get you the exposure you want. Comment marketing is something I will go over in future posts.
Good idea Sly i was thinking the same way but still building my budget.
Very good tips, I just started and I am trying to be informative more than popular.
Very nice tips. I just started my own blog.
It’s a great way to get some quick exposure, as long as your site is in some way related to the ‘make money online’ niche.
It gets a bit trickier trying to find reviews from other genres of sites.
I think that is a great tip, in fact I just blogged about something similar. It is still important to get people buzzing about you in order to get traffic to your blog. Whether or not to say if they return all depends on the content of your Blog.
“Food for thought - How did John Chow (and so many other Gurus) get traffic and audience to the high level they now enjoy on their blogs?”
Answer: Chow used a simple technique that eventually angered the Google gods. He gave people free reviews of their site on his blog as long as they linked back to him with the anchor text “make money online.” Eventually he was #1 for that term.
Great post have just subscribed, hope for more insights!
Nice tip. I might try it after having 2-4 good posts.
It seems that make money online from blogs are easy. But i dont feel so. But I am sure tht if one is devoted he/she can make a lot of money throgh online. Anyway Thank you for your nice posting.
Good Post , Thanks for sharing this Trick
That’s true you can have the best blog ever but nobody knows you it is useless.
It’s a difficult thing to judge: knowing what the ROI (return on investment) will be for any money you spend on your blog.
Yep, it might create a spike for a day or two, but how much of the generated traffic will continue after that?
Christoff’s last blog post..There is only one God
hye…i don’t think that was a good idea. sorry..just giving some opinion
I am all for blog reviews but I am in the opinion that it should not be used to boost the initial traffic to new blogs with little contents. It is really pointless to do so.
The investment is only worthwhile if those first-time visitors are converted to become interested subscribers, which is pretty unlikely for fresh blogs.

Thanks for the tips, it sounds good!! I think i gonna try it..just being audacious!! Though it may seem costly, but who knows, i may strike a good deal!!
Man, if only I had an online budget…
Me too, If I only had an online budget and I can make a very quality post like what they did. It is not impossible to be on top top list :p

A nice thought but you fail to mention picking someone who blogs in your market niche. A review might bring some readers but if those readers are used to reading about Gadgets and end up on a site about the color of baby’s poop today, then one might as well burn the money for all the good it will do.
Catherine, the redhead blogger
I am actually writing a great post at the moment on how to make money by paying for site reviews. I am hoping to test your site review first (by winning the top commentator competition.) and then if it works (I will pretend I put in an imaginary $60) then I will begin investing actually money into the equation
great tip but how do we know that we shouldn’t exceed the budget
