Search Engine Optimization: Tip #2

After reading Search Engine Optimization Tip #1, you learned that finding keywords for your articles sets the base for search engine optimization. Here’s SEO tip # 2: how to optimize the keywords for search engines on your articles…

Like I said, SEO isn’t SEO without the keywords. Most importantly though is the long-tail keywords. What are they? Well, they’re more like a phrase keyword than just a word. If you search something on Google, do you type one word or a phrase? If you type a phrase to search something, that phrase is a long-tail keyword. So after researching the keywords you need for your articles, it’s time to optimize them for search engines.

There is really only two places you need to put keywords: the article title (which would also be the page title) and the first couple sentences of the article. So for example, let’s look at my post on How To Get Featured On YouTube. Notice something? It only has about two sentences of text and the rest of the article is just an embedded video. Yet it comes out on the first page of Google for the search term “how to get featured on YouTube” and “get featured on YouTube”.

How did I do it? Look at the description. Notice how I used the keywords (more than once) on the title and on the article. In fact what you see there on the search result description is actually the first 2 sentences of the article. By now you probably know what this SEO tip is all about…to use the keywords as “early” as possible on every article and to use them more than once. That’s basically it for this SEO tip.
