Mommy Bloggers Grow in Popularity
Back in February I wrote a post asking what blogs outside of your niche that you read. I shared that I often read what are known as “Mommy Blogs” not because I am a Mommy - obviously the wrong gender for that, but because as a group and as individuals they are often representative of some of the best blogging available.
They show a knowledge of their audience, an ability to engage and write well. One particular organization that caters to this genre is Blogher they started as a blog network but are now so much more, organizing one of the biggest blogging conferences in the US.
This week it was announced that the organization had received more funding to the tune of $7m, not bad in a so called downturn economy. They currently employ 30 full-time staff and the network reaches an estimated 14 million unique readers a month!
So reading outside of your niche is obviously a good thing. So again I ask, who do you read that is not in your niche?
