Inlinks are Great
Ever since moving all our sites to wordpress earlier this year, our sites traffic has just been going up, up and up. And one of the main contributing factors to this success has been our creative use of all the inlink features wordpress offers. I have listed the inlink techniques we use according to Oomph factor.
1. Recent Articles - These links can give your articles a temporary boost in Search Engines as they appear on every page of your site for a short period. (5% Oomph factor).
2. Tags - Make sure they are closely related to the article, some can also can be used as mini cagetories. (7% Oomph factor).
3. Categories - Long term well established and regularly updated catergories can help as well. (8.5% Oomph factor)
4. Most Popular and Most Commented Post - Post put them on all your pages. (11% Oomph factor).
5. Related Links in Articles are good as well linking to really old or popular similar stories can really help in Search engines. (12% Oomph factor).
6. Related Post - can have long term strength. (15% Oomph factor).
So Inlinks can really help a site in Search Engines. And yes I know what your thinking will Jumbilo (test.Jumbilo.com) will be better than wordpress in this department, the answer is YES.

When you say test.Jumbilo.com your talking about subdomains?
I see a couple areas where I can improve from this list. i.e. related links and related posts. I have neither of those. Thanks for the tips.

Not only for search engines, it will make visitors to stay longer on your blog.
On Jumbilo.com, why do you have author's URL required?? Not everyone has a website or blog as we know.

no reason wordpress is just to dominate and doesn't have many competitors that come close to it, but all that will change in 2009 lol

You could attach some snapshot of how traffic went up in order to make it easier for people to understand. Also sometimes traffic goes up thanks to ageing factor (which I think isn't the only one in this case). I always publish snapshots of my website's traffic each month. No matter if it goes up or down.

I think the 'most recent' and 'most popular' posts definitely help, I'll soon be making them sitewide as well!
