How To:Create A Landing Page in Wordpress

For those of you not familiar with the term a Landing page is a page to which you direct visitors specifically. It does not exist in the normal navigation of your website. Why would you want such a page? Primarily as a marketing tool and for you to enable true metric gathering.

Perhaps you have an e-book and you want to offer a certain group of people a special offer on it. You could create an email campaign with a link to your landing page that has the special offer on it. By knowing how many people you send the email to, how many click the link and finally how many take action on the page you have a complete set of metrics to know how successful (or not) your campaign has been.

If you use Wordpress this is normally something you can’t achieve as everytime you make a new page or post it will show up. However, using the Advanced Category Excluder you can create a category of post called Landing Page or Sales Page or something else and then use the plugin to exclude it from your site so that it will not show up in search engines or else where, meaning that the only people who can find it are those to whom you send the link.

Though not specifically designed for this, I think this is a good adaptation of the use for this plugin.

What plugins have you found to give you functionality they didnt originally intend?

    “Adsense Treasure” Review:

Wow, this one blew me away. What you get is a ready made website. The website runs automatically, you never have to maintain it or pay monthly hosting fees. I got one and it’s been bringing in around $1000 month for me. I absolutely love it.
    I give Adsense Treasure a score of 5/5 (5 out of 5)

Does it allow you to control sidebars, etc? You need to remove any "distractions" from the main message. The Flexsqueeze theme allows you to do just that (but it does cost). Incidentally the associated Flexibility theme is free and offers great control and flexibility (good name?).
