How to be Rich from Blogging

Posted on Jan 11, 2009 by Simon Salt

What follows are THE 5 steps to becoming rich from blogging:

How many times have you read that or something like it on a website, an email or some other form of communication?

Unless you already have a number one blog (and sometimes even that isnt enough), getting rich from a blog is a pipe dream.  Sure you can cover your site with ads from any number of providers, but unless you are getting thousands (and preferably 10’s of thousands) of readers a day you are unlikely to make much more than chump change.

Instead use your blog to provide you with a way of showing the world how knowledgable you are about a topic, use it as an advertising stream for your brand - whether that’s your company or even better your personal brand.   Use it to build credibility, and demonstrate commitment to the subject. Doesn’t matter if that is financial analysis or keeping rabbits, be the go to site for your topic and then seek the opportunities that your readership will bring you.

A lot of the top expert bloggers make it seem so easy to make a full time income from blogging. This is not the case. It takes a huge deal of networking, content and product creation, and an enormous amount of time to earn a decent living from blogging.

Fair enough. :) It does help to build up some authority. It will take time though, I’m sure, and depending on your specialization, there might well be quite a lot of competition to overcome as well.

I think that the longer you work at blogging the easier to becomes to make money over time. Eventually less work is evolved and i noticed that nowadays I don’t nearly have to put as much effort as I was before.

I guess, just by blogging not many become rich. Well, they can make money but if you want to take it a higher level (say 10K per month) you need to add your unique services. Otherwise, like Gary Conn the AdSense income should go through the roof :)

Thanks for clearing the get rich quick theme up! I’ve been working hard building my blog and doing a ton of research about how to build more traffic and occasionally get caught on the affiliate marketing side-track which often ends up on an endless tangent hunt.

Your article has served to keep me on task! Concentrating on what I’m already an expert on which is real estate (not editting CSS for sure)

    See you soon!

I have noticed something. All the A-list bloggers initially main source of income was not blogging. They had other ventures. Blogging was part time for them.

You definitely can make moneywith a new blog, you just have to do it tactfully. Adsense probably doesnt work well for internet marketing topics, but if you blog about dog training, you can do very well with adsense. Internet marketing blogs can do well selling individual ad space, providing residual income. Also, when writing a blog, you can recommend products to people. You just have to do it in a better manner than other people.

Many bloggers were promoting BANS, and complaining that it doesn’t convert. Those that were going through giving detailed explainations of how to use BANS, what it can do, etc, are the ones who made decent money recommending BANS. (Insert other IM product in this sentence… same thing)

Stand out from the crowd, focus on promotion, and you can make money from your blog.
