Recently, I posted up that an Entrecard was finally available here SlyVisions dot Com. But after a few days of “dropping cards” on other blogs, I noticed something with the program that made it almost equivalent to another. Can anyone guess? Yes, BlogExplosion. If you don’t know what BlogExplosion is, go ahead and read this first: Is BlogExplosion a Good Source Of Traffic?
What makes me think that Entrecard will be the next BlogExplosion? Think about it. What is the main idea for both these “traffic magnets”? Getting “free” traffic by earning credits. Although both programs are different, their system is almost identical. In Entrecard, you visit a blog, then you drop your card. Meanwhile, in BlogExplosion, you “visit” a site, wait for 30 seconds, then click Go to visit another one to earn another credit.
Targeted Traffic? I Don’t Think So.
Again, just like BlogExplosion, Entrecard does not bring targeted traffic. If you’re an Entrecard user, you should know what I mean
. Through word-of-mouth (and experience), this how how it works in reality: you visit the Campaign page, open up a category of blogs, then like a madman on the loose, you click on almost every blog banner you see on that category which open on many different tabs on your browser. You then open up the links to the blogs, find the Entrecard widget, drop your card, then after just a few seconds you’re off the blog like magic. You probably took a look at the blog for while, but you never really took the time to check it out like Entrecard meant it to be.
To show you what others are starting to think about Entrecard, here’s comment I recieved on my Entrecard post from Vic from Blogger Unleased:
Entrecard is worthless, you cannot have a system where you gain credits by visiting another site… mmm… traffic exchange hellooo not one has survived because people soon realize that they are really advertising to each other so what is the use. As with most fads this will die soon.
So do you actually get the targeted traffic that you wanted? Well, it all depends. Let’s take a look at my site’s Entrecard statistics.

According to Google Analytics for the month of November and December to this date, all the visitors that came from EntreCard are staying 22.51% LESS than average. The pages per visit ration is also down 36.55%. Is this what I call targeted traffic? Apparently not. But I surely was surprised that the time spent on the site averaged to at least 1.5 minutes. Maybe it’s just because I’ve done a really good job leaving a first impression.
So what do you think? How is Entrecard going for you and your blog?

That’s about the same thing I’ve seen except your stats are slightly better than mine. Perhaps this has something to do with magazine format theme vs. standard blog theme.
The main reason I’m keeping it for now is to perhaps get a slight Alexa boost. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be that worthwhile. I do recommend sticking it down at the bottom of the page where at least the quickie visitor will have to dig for it.

I used Entrecard to find blogs of my interest, read, and comment! And I added them to my EntreBlog bookmark to check out often. Guess what, they did the same and return the favor. Although the percentage is small, but I bet it’s better than nothing!

I love entrecard for the social network. I love that I can quickly send a message to anyone else in the network. And I love when people write recommendations for me. And I love when I write recommendations for other people, and I see them commenting on my blog.
And I love the 1000 unique hits I’ve gotten, the 40 comments I’ve gotten, and the alexa boost I’ve gotten.
Go entrecard!

You can approach Entrecard in one of two ways:
1>Selfish - You race thru the sites dropping cards to accumulate ec’s and get untargetted traffic.
2> Unselfish - As you go to each site, you hang around and read a post or two, leave a comment, SU it, BZ it or whatever. Because you helped them, they will help you and your actions can attract more targetted traffic. Everyone wins.
You can also take part in the forum there, socialize/network.
This is how I look at Ecard, sure the credits and hits are nice but it is the side benefits that are paying of for me.

I think not all Entrecard traffics are useless. For me, i will choose category that i like and simply click one of them, then will browse through their blog. Unless their blog bring nothing to me, else i will spend at least 5 minutes on there. BTW, don;t worry about the untargetted traffic, at least these people get to know your blog, right?

I’ve found lots of new, interesting sites via entrecard (including this one!) Sure, lots of people will wizz by dropping cards and never reading anything but some may stay around for a while. Thats more than I would get without it and I’m having fun discovering new sites.
