Evernote hits 4 million users

Note taking service Evernote has surpassed 4 million users in its 2.5 years of operation.

Most of the success is dues to the iPhone, which accounts for the majority of its users, with Android at 20% and iPad at 15%. The company plans on releasing new features later this year.

Google acquires Jambool

Google has confirmed that it has officially acquired Jambool, which, despite its silly name, is the creator behind the virtual currency known as Social Gold. Google has reportedly paid $70 million for the company.

Jambool has announced that they’ll still be operating as an independent company, and Google has yet to reveal its intentions with the acquisition, but we suspect it’ll have to do something with integration of Google Checkout.

Google has released a new Contacts Manager for their popular email app Gmail, which offers better contacts management in the cloud, keyboard shortcuts, name filters and so on. To check out the rest of the features, simply load up Gmail.

Google kills Wave


What was to become a revolutionary Google product, Wave, has now officially been discontinued by Google, and will only be supported until the rest of the year, the company announced. Google has said it will offer users a way of exporting their Wave data by the end of the year.

LinkedIn acquires mSpoke

LinkedIn has acquired mSpoke, a recommendation service. LinkedIn’s CEO Jeff Weiner said about the acquisition:

“mSpoke and LinkedIn’s shared focus on generating relevant content make this acquisition a natural fit for us. We’re actively investing in solutions that help deliver valuable professional insights to LinkedIn members.”

No acquisition price was disclosed.

Spanish social network Tuenti sold for $100 million

Well, actually it’s $99 million: The Spanish Facebook clone Tuenti has sold to Spanish telecom giant Telefonica for $99 million. However, Telefonica managed only to acquire a 90% stake, with the remaining 10% still split among the founders. Tuenti was launched a few years ago and has raised just over $1 million in funding so far.
