Fandango offers digital movie tickets on phones

Movie site Fandango has begun offering users to get their purchased movie tickets digitally with a barcode to use, instead of buying good ‘ol fashioned paper tickets.

Barcodes are sent to phones in an SMS or MMS message with a link to the barcode, which can be used by theaters to scan. So far only a dozen or so theaters are participating, with more to join the club later.

Google acquires Docverse

Google has acquired Docverse, an online collaborating service which lets users collaborate with Microsoft Office documents, like Word and Excell. Google is expected to integrate Docverse into their online office suite, further adding to the war between Google Docs and Microsoft Office.

The sale price of Docverse is reported at $25 million.

Ngmoco raises $25 million in series C

Ngmoco, one of the more successful iPhone games developers and publishers, has announced that they’ve raised $25 million in a series C round of Venture Capital funding. This brings the total funding pool to over $40 million for Ngmoco.

At the same time, the company announced that it acquired Freeverse, a top iPhone games developer and one of Ngmoco’s biggest competitors.

Beware of Twitter “LOL” phishing attack

Twitter is under another phishing attach, this time through direct messages. If you receive a direct message going with “lol, is this you”, “Lol. this is me??”, “lol , this is funny” followed by a link — do not click the link, it’ll take you to a page which grabs your Twitter login information. The attack method is now also used to spread all kinds of links, including general spam.

Microsoft/Yahoo searched deal finally cleared

The European Commission and the Department of Justice have finally cleared the deal between Microsoft and Yahoo, where they stuck a search deal last year, which would bring Microsoft search to Yahoo pages.

Two years ago, Microsoft tried to buy Yahoo for $45 billion, but the deal never went through, and subsequent negotiations fell through as well.
