Netflix coming to Apple’s new iTV

Apple hasn’t yet announced its new iTV, the replacement for Apple TV, and trusted reports are coming out that the new device will support Netflix, which isn’t surprising, considering that Netflix is pretty much everywhere these days. Apple will hold a media even tomorrow at 10AM PST, where it’s expected that new iPods and the iTV will be announced.

NY Subways getting WiFi


One of the biggest subway networks in the world, in New York, plans to offer WiFi in its cars. A group of companies under the name Transit Wireless LLC are moving forward with the initiative, which will cost $200 million.

YouTube extends video clip limit to 15 mins


YouTube has long had a video clip limit of 10 minutes, which of course was a limitation for many users (especially those ripping TV shows to YouTube). Now YouTube has extended the limit by 50%, to 15 minutes.

YouTube has introduced a brand new mobile site, fully made in HTML5 and is accessible by any mobile browser supporting HTML5 (like Safari on the iPhone).

Netflix strikes deal with Relativity Media to stream more movies


Netflix has announced a new deal with independent film production company Relativity Media to bring some of its titles to Netflix’ streaming service. Relativity Media has produced such titles as 300, Zombieland, Brothers and more. The new agreement begins next year, at which point Netflix estimates it’ll have over 25,000 titles available for streaming.

Hulu reveals Hulu Plus for TVs and consoles, $10 a month


Hulu has had a decent run online with hulu.com with streaming TV shows and some movies. But now the TV-network-owned service is expanding to TV sets and game consoles, and will offer a $10 monthly subscription to the new devices. Hulu plans on launching on the PS3 next month, and the Xbox 360 early next year, according to DigitalBattle.

Xbox 360 getting ESPN HD

At E3, which is well underway now, Microsoft announced integration of ESPN HD on the Xbox 360, which will offer live streaming of sports in HD directly on the console. Best of all, this is coming free of charge to all Xbox Live owners. Just another reason to cancel your cable subscription.

Adobe releases Flash 10.1

Adobe has released Flash 10.1, which brings a major new feature in form of hardware accelerated video playback, power improvements and much more.

An OS X version is under way, and it’ll certainly be welcome — we’d like to watch a few YouTube videos without our MacBook fans spinning up like crazy.
