Apple has finally canceled the “Get a Mac” ads, which have been quite famous for their Mac vs. Windows set ups with Justin Long and John Hodgman. Apple hasn’t released a new ad in the series for a while, and now the page on apple.com where you could once find the ads has been replaced by a “Why Mac?” page.

Facebook launches “Like” button for everything

Facebook has had its “Share” button for a while, but now it’s become a lot easier to share stuff with your friends, as Facebook has introduced the “Like” button, which can be placed on any website or article, and user can simply click it to share with friends. Facebook has lined up a lot of major publishers to distribute the service, including IMDB, ESPN and CNN. Expect lots of blogs and sites to add the Like button to everything they have in the near future.

Library Of Congress to preserve all public Tweets


The Library of Congress, which deals with preservation and copyright, has announced that it plans to archive all public tweets from Twitter, for all eternity. Of course, these do not include all Tweets, just those published by government agencies and politicians etc.

Bit.ly gets 3.4 billion clicks per month

Bit.ly, one of the most popular ULR shortening services and the de-facto standard for Twitter, has revealed that the service got over 3.4 billion clicks in March, with over half of the clicks coming from Twitter.

There are many URL shortening services out there these days — hundreds — but what sets Bit.ly apart is that it’s the default service for Twitter. As soon as Twitter replaces it with its own twee.tt, Bit.ly will most certainly see a decrease in usage.

Lending Club raises $24.5 million

Lending Club, the peer-based lending service, where users lend users money, has announced that it has raised a whopping $24.5 million in a series C round led by Foundation Capital, Morgenthaler Ventures, and Norwest Venture Partners. This brings Lending Club’s total capital raise at just over $52 million. The company was founded in 2006 and originally started as a Facebook app.

Kontagent Raises $1 Million in Angel round

Kontagent, the new startup which offers Facebook analytics software, has raised $1 million in angel investment from a series of private investors, in addition to the company’s $250,000 fund from the Facebook Fund. Kontagent offers a detailed analytics platform for Facebook, with emphasis on gaming, where several Facebook game developers are using Kontagent to track the stats of their players.
