Tim Ferris from the 4 Hour Workweek (great blog by the way… I still need to get the book) had recently just posted up a video on how to “peel” hard-boiled eggs without having to, well, peel the eggs. Basically, he shows you how to remove the outer-shell of the egg without actually having to go through all the hassle of peeling. Check it out:
Got a video on YouTube that needs views? It’s quite easy and if you’re a blogger who knows a lot about SEO, you should already know how it works. Just take a look at a couple of my videos (watch this and this). With over thousands of views and counting, I get a few visitors from YouTube everyday. There is a lot of potential traffic that you can get to your from popular social networks like YouTube.
Anyway, three quick tips on how to optimize your videos on YouTube to get on top of their search engine results.
Have 2-3 keywords in the title. Even just the title of the video can increase the chances of your video being found. Titling a DisneyWorld video “My Visit To DisneyWorld” is better optimized than titling it “My Visit To a Theme Park”.
Tag, Tag, TAG! If there’s one thing I need to emphasize, social networking sites like YouTube don’t have the tagging/keyword feature for no reason. Use as many tags as you can. Just pretend you’re the person searching for a video. What would you type in the search box?
Write a keyword-rich description. When you search for a video, notice how keywords are bolded in the search results? They come from the description of the video. It’s like tagging but you’re doing it as you write what the video is about.
Your videos might not get thousands of views from being featured on the home page, but after you optimize them for searching you’ll feel good knowing that people are actually watching what you made.
Over at 45n5, Mark has posted up a helpful video going over how to make your site “sticky”. When he says sticky, he is talking about the bounce rate of your visitors: how long they stay and how frequently they come back. Making a sticky site depends on many things from its structure to the content and sources you provide. As long as you implement these tips, you’ll have people coming back to your site everyday without a problem.
For those that have finally gotten an iPhone or iPod Touch, here’s a little guide for you to help you hack (Jailbreak) it. By jailbreaking your iPhone/iPod Touch, you will be able to install 3rd party software that will increase your productivity and add more fun to it (watch a video here to see an example of what you can do). I have watched video tutorials all over YouTube and read forums on how to Jailbreak, but they are not as easy compared to what I’m going to show you. By the way, I am not responsible for anything (bad) that happens to your iPhone/iPod Touch. Anyway, let’s move on.
For the past few days and weeks, a little rumor has been going around in the blogosphere that Google would penalize sites that are selling text links. Well, it has now been proved to be true. For example, sites like Copyblogger had its PageRank from 6 go down to 4. Problogger (even though it stopped selling links months ago) went from a 6 to 4 as well. Meanwhile, if you take a look at PageRank toolbar to see the PageRank of Slyvisions, you will see that it is currently a 2 (it was a projected 5). I saycurrentlybecause I hope that’s about to change. How? Well, read on to find out how to sell text links without getting penalized by Google. It takes two easy steps to let Google give you a chance to get your PR back up.
Using Audacity, a free audio editor application, you can remove vocals from MP3 songs. You can easily remove the vocals from songs to make your own MP3 instrumental. The creator of this tutorial is the same one that made the tutorial on how to hide files inside images that I have posted on my other blog at WebTech. So if you ever wanted to find an instrumental of a song but couldn’t find it, just remove the vocals by yourself from those MP3 songs!

Making a custom 404 error page for a website is very easy to do and can take less than 3 minutes to make. For those who don’t know what a 404 page is, it’s just a simple page letting the user know that the page they are trying to visit is unavailable. It’s very important for a blog to have a 404 page so that just in case your readers visit a page that doesn’t exit, they’ll be able to go to where they’re suppose with an automated page. Here’s a simple way to get started.
