Meet the Pinoy Blogero (Filipino Blogger)

Pinoy Blogero

After winning my latest blog contest, Karlo from Pinoy Blogero has earned his way to this free blog review. Myself being born in the Philippines, it’s really cool seeing other Filipinos (or Pinoys as we’re called) blogging on the internet. Although the Pinoy Blogero (blogger) focuses on the Filipino blogosphere, he actually writes for everyone. Karlo himself even admitted that the blog is getting out of focus in terms of the topics to cover about the Pinoy blogosphere. He has written more posts about blogging than anything else. Oh, and they are top-quality by the way.

Join the “One Heck Of a Blog Contest”

Mike from Bloggin-Ads is currently having a contest called the “One Heck Of a Blog Contest“. And yes, it sure is big. The prizes (sponsored from other bloggers, myself included) might not be valuable to some people, but it sure is worth participating. The prizes I am sponsoring are 200 Entrecard credits and a month’s worth of a RSS text link. This contest is unique though in a way that there are 12 groups of prizes for 12 different winners. Below are those groups that a winner can possibly win.

Average Joe Blogger Is More Than Just Average

Average Joe Blogger banner

What does a blogger get after winning the first Slyvisions contest? A free blog review! Also winning a blogroll text link and a 125×125 banner for two months, Average Joe Blogger is surely more than just an average joe blogger. Let’s take a look what he’s all about.

Who Is Average Joe Blogger?

He doesn’t really let us know his real name from his blog, but he surely lets us know what he’s all about from his About page.

Average Joe Blogger is the journey of one blogger, me, on a quest to become a “Pro Blogger”. After years of sitting on the sidelines, reading the words of some amazing people, I decided to see what it takes to rise to the status of Pro Blogger. On this journey I will cover all aspects of blogging, everything from setting up a blog to making money from a blog, and hopefully somewhere along the way I will reach the status of Pro Blogger.

What I Like

One thing I like about the blog is that AJB has done a good job branding itself. Who would have thought of starting a blog being called what it is now? Also, the design is just wonderful. The text is very easy to read while its colors are mixed and matched just perfect, especially for the eyes of the readers. Everything is spaced out perfectly especially the sidebar. Average Joe Blogger is one of the best designed blogs I’ve seen yet.

Now let’s get on with the real deal: content. By taking a look at some of the most popular posts from Average Joe Blogger, it is very clear that this average joe can really write and has the potential to be one of the most popular blogs on the internet. Here are just some of them:

10 Sources For Blogging Inspiration
Choosing a Platform For Your Blog
5 Free Tools To Help You Find the Perfect Domain
Are You Losing Readers From Your 404 Page?

What I Don’t Like

Honestly, there really isn’t much that I don’t like. Everything is perfect and there is nothing that can be criticized. Average Joe Blogger will surely become a pro blogger in no time. If you haven’t check out the site yet, what are you doing? Go ahead and subscribe to its RSS feed while your there.

Freelancing and Designing with Adii

A blogger recently contacted me to let me know about his website and see if I can review it. Usually, I don’t just easily accept offers for blog reviews, but after checking out his site, it was a no-brainer. First of all, his name is Adii and is the blogger from adii.co.za. When I checked out his site, it just blew me away. The thing that stood out the most was his site’s design. There’s only one word for it, and it’s what I call beauty. Check it out and you’ll see what I mean. Adii designed it himself. In fact, he is more than just a blogger or a designer.

So Who Is Adii?

Adii might be someone you have never heard of. When you hear the names Darren Rowse, Yaro, or John Chow, you know who comes to mind right? But Adii? Who’s Adii? Well, he is surely going to be the next David Airey or the next Nate Whitehill. Just by looking at Adii’s blog, it is easily to realize that he can do just about anything. In fact, by looking at his blog’s header, he calls himself “a fiance, designer, blogger, WordPress rockstar, and a strategist”. Now that’s what I call a true freelancer.

Adii, web design, freelance

Can I hire Him?

Of course you can! What kind of designer doesn’t design other’s blogs or other types of graphics? If your budget doesn’t fit Nate Whitehill’s or David Airey’s rates, going with Adii’s is the perfect alternative. You can check out his portfolio for some great theme designs that he has made for other websites. Seriously, they are just plain awesome. If I used WordPress for this blog, there is no doubt in my mind that I would order a design from him.

What About His Blog’s Content?

Even if Adii is a designer, he also writes great content for his blog. Not only does he talk about designing, web 2.0, or wordpress related articles, but he also goes over things in entrepeneurship and business strategy. Here are just a few of his nice articles:

All in all, Adii’s blog is a good one to add to your daily reads or subscription. He provides you with anything you need when it comes to designing or reading his blog’s content. If you haven’t subscribed yet, go ahead and do so!

NxE's 50 Most Influential Bloggers

First of all, if you don’t know what NxE is, it’s short for the blog North x East. If you have never been there before, well, this is the perfect time to check it out (as well as other top blogs and bloggers). Anyway, as you might know, there are millions of blogs and bloggers out there in the internet. NxE has put together 50 bloggers that they think are the most influential in the world. And as they said, if you don’t know these bloggers, now is the time to learn and know about them. Without these people, I don’t think any average blogger would be as successful as they are.

The Blogger Challenge

Bryan from One Man’s Goal is one step closer to achieving his goal each and every day. He is doing good on his progress so far but now wants to see YOURS. He is currently holding a contest for bloggers called the Blogger Challenge. How does it work? Well, it’s really all about improving your blog in three different categories: Technorati Faves, Technorati Authority, and Alexa Ranking. The blogger who can improve the best from those 3 categories will win a banner on his site’s sidebar. Since there are three categories, there is more chances that a blogger can win one (or all 3). If a blogger wins all three categories, they also get a review about their site. To view more information, visit his Blogger Challenge post.

Where To Find and Submit Blog Contests

Many bloggers are promoting their blogs by starting some sort of a contest. Bloggers like John Cow for example is giving away a Nintendo Wii, an iPhone, PS3, or an Xbox 360. Or take Mr. Gary Lee, who’s giving away an iPhone. To find out about the contest, you probably had to visit their site or read their RSS feed to find out about it. But what if there is a blog out there that you don’t know that also has a contest for you to participate? Or maybe you just want a quick way to find blog contests. That’s where the next following blog contest sites come in handy.

Contest Blogger
Contest Blogger
Contest Blogger is a blog that’s all about…well, blog contests. The site, maintained by Phil Van Treuren, gives bloggers a chance to easily keep up to date with all the contests that blogs are having everyday. Not only can you find blog contests, but you can submit yours too! This is a PERFECT way to promote your contest. One of the things I like about Contest Blogger is how it has the “Most Recent Contests” on the sidebar so readers can easily scan for contests they might like. Make sure to subscribe to their RSS feed to keep up with new contest updates!

Blog-Contests.com
Blog Contests
Not as good as Contest Blogger, but it does the job. Like the other site, you can find blog contests made from all over the blogosphere here on Blog-Contests.com. There is not much to talk about since it works the same way as Contest Blogger–find a contest or submit one. The only thing that turns me off about this site is that a user needs to register before submitting a contest. Other than that, you can also subscribe to their RSS feed for updates.

I might be starting my own contest here on Slyvisions.com, so make sure to check back on that…or you might even find it on Contest Blogger or Blog-Contests!

One Man's Goal

One Man's Goal

Everyone has a goal right? My goal, as of right now, is to make money so that I can get my own MacBook Pro. Other bloggers have a goal to make money online through the next few years so they can be financially free. But there is one man that has been so motivated that he has made a blog to do the same…but in only 365 days.

Meet Bryan, the man that has a goal to make a living on the internet in less than one year (and counting). He has started his One Man’s Goal blog sometime last month and is currently doing a great job right now with what he’s doing. Just a few days ago, he already got some link-love from Darren Rowse’s Problogger. What an accomplishment already! A month into blogging and he’s already got a top-blogger to link to his site. Then there are others that are also helping him like Terence Chang and Jill Koenig. So here I am, writing a review about his site at no price what-so-ever. Why am I doing this? To help him with his goal, that’s why! I myself have goals in my life so I’m trying to help Bryan out too. Blogging isn’t blogging if you’re not part of the community, right?

So other than trying to make money online, One Man’s Goal provides you with great posts that Bryan has written. Like for example, he has asked the question to his readers “Does Monetizing Your Blog Cost You Readers?” (which is the post that Problogger has linked to). His most current post is about Myspace Marketing. He shows readers how to use the MySpace community to bring more readers and friends. There is really so much to talk about that you just have to check out his site yourself. Make sure to support him with his goal! Like Terence Chang has said in his blog, “Let’s all just keep our eyes on Bryan’s progress. You may learn something from him.”
