Bloggers, Don't Forget Your Visual Readers!

Visual ReadersA quick tip for bloggers: don’t forget your visual readers! You do know what I’m talking about right? Well, the word visual should give you a hint. Bloggers and other website owners should always help their visitors (especially the visual learners) have an easy time looking around their site. There are a lot of ways you can do this. The first, and most obvious, is by optimizing the content of the blog itself. I’m not trying to sound insulting or anything, but if your content sucks, the rest of your blog does too. With all the ways you can keep your readers away, there are surely many ways to keep them. I have shown you tips to writing great content the right way, but there are more ways to making an article fun to read. How? A simple way is to provide visuals. Here are a few examples.

Videos. I already see a lot of bloggers embedding videos on their site. Whether it’s a podcast, a quick how-to from MetaCafe, or a simple funny video you found on YouTube, posting a video never hurts. Bloggers like Darren from ProBlogger, for example, posts helpful blogging podcasts on his site almost every week. Mark from 45n5, meanwhile, also makes videos and talks about his daily tasks with blogging. Whatever it is you do, posting a video adds attraction to your posts.

Images. The simplest way and most effective way of adding visuals is by implementing images on blog posts. As you have probably noticed, I post a lot of images. I add images to almost every post I write because images easily attracts visitors into reading the articles. If you have never ever put an image in any of your blog post yet, try it. The page-views of your articles will go up as well as the number of comments that your visitors leave.

Design. The design of your blog is the most important factor if you want readers to keep coming back. Imagine if your blog had all the elements it already has, but the theme and design looked like it was made by a 10-year old. There is surely no way that it would have the same quality it has now unless it looked good. Yes, I do agree that you should “not judge a book by its cover”. But your blog is a type of book in which the cover can actually matter. it all depends on how you think of your own blog.

There are surely many other ways to atrract your readers. You can even try adding flash games to your blog if you have to. It’s all about attraction and first impressions. If your visual readers like what they see, they’ll come back to see more.

I agree, these are all important. Embedding videos and posting images once in a while is a soothing respite to all the words.

I did not have videos on my blogs but now I have placed one or two since I read this ad I thought it best to add some and see if it does improve my blogs for the visual readers now I have videos they can watch. I have always placed pictures on most of the post I write to give the post a bit of attraction to what the story is about when they look at the pictures. I shall try and find some other good videos to place on my blogs that I think my visual readers will enjoy .. Once more thanks for your great tips on how to improve my blogs.

personally I am not that big of a fan of putting videos in my blog. I have put 2 in the past but don´t really feel they added anything valuable.
