I logged on Digital Point today just to do my normal routine of checking out what’s going on the community. Usually, I head start off going to the Buy, Sell, Trade area to see if there was anything cool that I can buy. But as I logged in my username and password, this shows up on the next page.
Banned?!?! I never would have thought of getting banned on Digital Point! In fact, I tried so hard not getting banned because my account is growing in terms of number of posts (660+) and iTraders (40+). And now I’m banned? What happened?
Well, according to the site, it was simple. I had received enough infractions due to too much bumping of my threads. The lesson here: don’t bump your threads! It sounds stupid, but it’s true. Digital Point now has strict policies regarding these kinds of things, and unfortunately, I ended up being one of the idiots who never watched what I was doing. Lucky for me, I’m only banned for 1 month (whew). But it’s going to be a very long month.

I got banned too..just for posting something they don’t like but how would I know.
Anyway, if you make it hard, no one will come to the forum.
The best part is…I created my own forum and now I have many readership and free posting.

You must be lucky to be banned for only 1 month
Don’t you worry the month will pass by very fast.
I managed to get banned to only for one day though. For replying to someone’s thread asking them to PM me.
Oooops!!! It is really hard to believe that you’re banned. Anyhow it is for short period only. I think you’ll be on live after July-13th. I am also having two infarctions.
Another thing to watch out for is two itraders on same transaction. I recently got scammed on a blog sale.
The person sent me money via Paypal, but an hour an half later, the money was on hold “pending a Paypal investigation”. I left a positive iTrader for the person, right after they sent me the money, and proceeded to transfer the domain name and blog. Well after learning the money was on hold, i went back in to DP, and left this scammer a negative iTrader, to warn others what was going on.
DP banned me (30 days) for this, i lost my blog, and never got the money. So be careful on DP, watch out for the Paypal scammers, and dont leave 2 iTraders on same transaction. DP is not open to discussion, they just ban you, and there is nothing you can do about it.
I was/am still furious over the situation, but have learned loads on “what not to do”.
The best thing to sell a domain thro’ DP is just complete all the formalities except domain transfer and money exchange. For these two process, you need to use escrow.com. Recently I did a business with them and got perfectly sold my thing without any scam.
DP is sure the most popular place for the webmasters, but there are many other better forums.
I like BlackHat World. It sure teaches you a lot.

Thanxs Ben. I need to make sure others know about it, so it doenst happen to them as well. Hopefully i will gain access to DP on July 10th. (my reinstatment date)
I wonder if my scammer will still also be there. I surely hope not. My god, i cant believe people will do this, and have zero shame about it.
I suppose i will have to just ignore him, as i dont want to get banned again. Dont know.
Yeah I have been ripped of recently on their. A service which was good for the first 2 months ( I bought 4 months) and now no replies… $120 to waste.
Hi I have been banned as well. But I know why. When I tried to login I started looking at my old email backups and I found that I once had trouble logging in and subscribed with another email address. So after all it was my fault. It is a shame though. I cannot remember if I never got a response from their support staff or if I just never complained. Maybe I’ll try again someday
I’m fairly new to DP. What does bumping threads mean?
Jamess last blog post..Peacocks 50% off selected lines
I got an infraction by bumping a thread once. Turns out I was actually just trying to talk to someone who wanted to buy my eBook, but they took it as a bump and gave me an infraction
@ James: bumping is adding an unnecessary reply to a thread that you started on a message board in order to move the topic back up to the top of the page.

This is good to know, I don’t think it is public knowledge you can be banned for that.

I recently got an infraction for simply replying to a post as the OP requested. It was for a directory or directories submission and the OP asked us to post with our directory name so he could get them approved fast. Everyone who did this including the OP received and infraction. Having rules is good and is needed, but abusing them or using them to this extent is not necessary. All this will succeed in doing in the long run will be to drive long established members away which is what the forum was built on to begin with. Shawn has to realize what it will do to his traffic in the long term, but I have a feeling he is not worried about the consequences of the hard handed approach.

Be more careful next time:)
Being careful is agreed. However, you cannot be careful when replying to threads as asked. Now I will agree that just posting thank you may be a border line issue there are to many cases of moderators abusing the new policy.
I haven’t been that much active at Digital Forums, but I’ll come to get on it. Oh yeah, I won’t start bumping topics there once I get to post on it.
I have two infractions currently, but I don’t really care since they are way to strict
But I’m sure that if they weren’t that strict, hell would break loose (which still happens occasionally over at DP)
Rajaie AlKoranis last blog post..5 Good Reasons Social Media Traffic Isn’t Useless
Rajaie Strict is ok, but overboard is another thing. I agree that you have to keep people from abusing the rules and spamming a forums, but do not use your rules to find something wrong with every post. Admins need to be smarter then a box of rocks and from what I have been reading and seeing it is not the first and foremost thing on their minds. In fact they almost seem to want no one to come back to their forums. Many old time posters who provided quality posts and feedback have been banned. It is nothing short of odd that they ban the very people who made the forums what it is.
Kevins last blog post..Domain name or sub-domain which one?
I logged in this morning and all was fine but went back a few hours later and was ban for a reply I posted 4 days ago. It was a new post at the time and I was doing a trade with a guy who now I will loose the trade because without any infractions, I am ban for 7 days. So many stupid rules that change daily and I can’t keep up with them. I don’t need them to make money so to heck with them. If everyone stopped going over there they would get a little more humble and start acting like they wanted traffic instead of chasing it away.
They will eventually destroy themselves as they ban everyone that has made them what they are. It is nothing short of suicide for them. May not happen today or tomorrow, but it will happen.
Kevins last blog post..Quality Content Is The Key To Success
Digital Point banned me too for posting just for posting? I’m like that doesn’t make sense. All I do is say hello to welcome new members with their name and all. I had enough with forums. All they do is ban people. Their backlinks aren’t worth much anyway.
Forums are good for many things when run well. The problem comes about when the operators forget what made them great. Also backlinks from them can be good now that many forums are allowing dofollow links. Most of your benefit is going to be from meeting others and gaining a good reputation.
Kevins last blog post..Is GoDaddy Really The Best Choice?
DP is great but the moderators are really stupid and got some problems probably. I just got banned due to having duplicate account, but I never made any other accounts on DP. I asked to Rob, he said we don’t want you here. I did nothing on these forums. I was just finding customers for my designs etc..
Really really sad..
Who cares about being banned. At least you won’t smell like curry at the end of the day.
20% buyers looking to outsource
20% newbies thinking DP is the place to do stuff
60% the indian pool
I was banned as well in DP it says its multiple account but the problem is that am using internet connections that sucks and they share IP address in all of there network in whole country do the possibility of getting same IP is high. Anyway what I don’t like about DP is that they were too strict with there high reputed members and members that have been with them for long time and also those high posted members. DP is getting worser and worser each day passing by.

This is just retarded, i was banned twice, the first time for for replying to a thread that said - reply to this thread if your interested. so i replied “interested” and was banned! wtf!!?!?!
Then the other time was a thread that said, reply to this thread if your interested and i will pm you. So again i replied. Interested, pm me please. Thanks!
…banned again >.<
DP seems to have become a steaming pile these days. I got 1 infraction for thanking someone for sharing a free script and now a ban for asking for someone to PM me regarding a sale (which yes I understand is NOW against the rules but it was common practice on DP in the past and I think a ban for a first time offense is a bit much)
At first I was thinking WTF? But now it seems that I am far from alone in this. Time to start looking for a new forum.
