Comments on: Bad Comments?

On the subject of bad criticisms, just today I visited a blog and I have never read such scathing comments about other bloggers. Bitchy doesn’t even go near to covering them. I am all in favour of constructive criticism, but out and out character assassination is not on. We all have to learn to accept some negative responses, but what I do disagree with is a lot of personal abuse. To my mind, none of that has anything to do with the blog and its content. Say what you have to say about the content, good or bad, but don’t get into snide comments about the person whose blog it is.

Nice post. Don’t ignore criticism…..there is nothing worse that bloggers that screen out and delete the negative comments, or those that offer constructive crticism.

Most newbies probably are gonna get hurt w/bad comments and thats not a problem coz theire newbs. But for us I guess, we normally dont care if its bad or good just as long as its not spam… if you can’t take bashing and criticisms go and head to wickedfire forums..

If it’s a fair criticism, I tend to leave them out there, as you say it can lead to a debate with other commenters, but what I readlly don’t like is when people don’t read the whole post or don’t check their facts or info and leave something completely stupid just because they didn’t read the whole thing and jumped to a conclusion

My ‘rule’ is to post any comment that I feel has been written to add value - positive or negative. If I believe the commenter has written just to say something nasty for no apparent reason, then I won’t post it.
