Even though I've been doing most of these I've always wondered why we were constantly neck-to-neck on the alexa charts. I get about 1,500-2000+ UVs per day. And even when you weren't as active your site site was still competitive haha.

btw, how many UVs/day do you get; I'm curious

I really like the cartoon character idea. When I use forums and social networks, I tend to prefer and trust people using avatars, even if it is an image that you know for sure it's not them. It somehow let's you know a little about their personality.

Creating a personality for your blog could be beneficial.

Haven't known that there is a contest submitting site before!

Article marketing is awesome. You just have to be careful because if you submit articles that are posted on your blog it can actually have a negative effect (lower seo rankings) because of dulicate content

You can always use traffic boosters. They are software with limited(alexa booster) or no installation(increasesiterating) both relay on increasing the numbers of the total page visits and unique page views

Yes of course! I've implemented at least 90% of all the things I have listed here. Some things I haven't done for example is making business cards to pass out and using PPC ads for traffic (which I don't need to do).

What would you like to see more information of? I'd be happy to write an individual post just for that topic.

The thing about traffic boosters is that they are not real targeted traffic. It's not what you would want for your site.

Agreed, I find writing press releases, viral videos, and commenting on other blogs to be the easiest way of getting quality traffic back to your blog.

Social bookmarking has also become huge, a single thumbs up from stumbleupon can send thousands of visitors to your site throughout the month.

Creating Controversy helps a lot. I have seen a blog which used to get around 5 comments per post. In one post he created controversy and that post got 50 comments!!!

Fantastic list. If people actually get of there butts and combine about 5 or 6 of these technique they WILL see abig increase in traffic in a very short period of time. Make sure you build traffic naturally, especially if youre doing it via link building as otherwise you could see you site plummet in google rankings and traffic disappear extremely quickly!

Great post. There are a number of ways of generating traffic to your site.

I like article marketing. You can write a number of articles on your niche and then submit them to article directories.

Traffic is very important and the more ways the better.

I like article marketing and using article submission services.

One example is Unique Article Wizard, although there are others.

You can submit your article to hundreds of directories and gain hundreds of backlinks.

Definitely beats submitting articles one by one.

What you need to realize is that there are a number of ways of generating traffic. The important part is finding what works for you and to use this to maximize your online wealth building business.

Indeed, I agree 100% will all of your suggested way to imprve traffic… problem is, it is now like a full time business, no longer is possible to work a couple of hours per week… to do all those thing you need work 10 hrs a day… but eventually the traffic may bring rewards worth the effort!

Agree with you on the back links from article directories… you can get traffic, but I noticed only a bunch of directories really provide good and consistent traffic…
