3 Things To Do To Improve Your Blog

Improving your blog is something that every blogger wants to do at some point. Whether it is to get more readers, more clicks on ads or just to generally step up the look and feel of their blog. The question is, with some many elements to a blog what do you change and what do you leave alone.

I saw a recent comment that said “Most people believe that ‘if isnt broken, dont fix it’, software developers believe that ‘if it isnt broken it doesn’t have enough features yet’”. Which is your approach to your blog. Are you constantly adding new plugins, new sidebar widgets, changing the colors, etc.

Here are my three things to do:

1. Step back and remind yourself why you started the blog - who were you trying to reach, are you still trying to reach the same audience?

2. Read your comments. Who comments on your blog, what do they write about? Do you subscribe to their blog? Why would this matter? Getting to know who actually reads your blog is a great way of finding what is going to be interesting to them and by extension people like them. They might not be the audience you initially wanted, but they are the audience you have.

3. Spring clean your blog - get rid of the distractions, you might think it looks cool but unless it serves a real purpose, unless it enhances the experience for your readers then remove those “cool effects” extra plugins or anything else that takes up space.

What are you going to do today to improve your blog?

I agree with number three immensley. Having a clean look is very important to your blog as it gives a friendly impression as soon asthe user visits your blog. Lots of adverts and lists does nothing for your site.

Point two is also important though. Look at which posts have the most comments, as this is obviously what your readers want, so carry on giving it to them!
